Djerdap is one of the deepest and most beautiful gorges in whole Europe. It separates the Banat mountains from the mountains of Eastern Serbia. Djerdap Gorge starts downstream from the Golubac ancient city and ends by the Romanian settlement Gura Vaj. According to some researchers, Djerdap is not marked as a uniform gorge, but instead it is composed of several narrow gorges and basins which intertwine.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeInUp” max_width=”500″]The Gorge is divided into \u201dMali Djerdap\u201d and \u201dVeliki Djerdap\u201d by the \u201dDonjomilanova\u010dka kotlina\u201d. Downstream from Golubac, the Danube enetrs the first \u2013 Golubac Gorge which spreads to Cezava, and thenproceeds into the basin \u201dLjupkovska kotlina\u201d. The river bed in \u201dGospodjin vir\u201d is very narrow, the river banks steeply rise even more than 500 m. From \u201dGreben\u201d to the delta of the Porec River (\u201dPore\u010dka reka\u201d), there is the \u201dDonjomilanova\u010dka kotlina\u201d where the Danube abruptly widens over 2 km.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeInUp” max_width=”500″]Beneath Golubinja, the Danube enters the third and most beautiful canyon gorge, composed of \u201dVeliki Kazan\u201d and \u201dMali Kazan\u201d. The Danube width in Veliki Kazan reaches only a few hundred meters, and steep limestone cliffs rise vertically above water.
