The International Day of Mountains, which is celebrated on December 11, was established in 2003 in order to draw attention to the fact that mountains are large reservoirs of drinking water, the habitats of almost 25% of plant and animal species. The largest part of Serbia’s relief belongs to the mountainous terrain, and among the various types tourism, mountain tourism has a special importance. The area of Djerdap Geopark also has the mountains Miroč and Šomrda, and mountain peaks Sokolovac, Liškovac, Veliki and Mali Štrbac and others.
