Boljetinska Reka Gorge

Goge is formed along a fault by incision of the Boljetinska Reka in the sedimentary rocks. Layers of sediments are visible in the Gorge, deposited during millions of years, from about 160 to about 145 million years ago, when this area was a part of the widespread Tehys Ocean.

Yarious cephalopods ( ammonites and belemnites) were inhabited the ocean water at that time, as evidenced by their preserved fossilized remains, which can still be found today in the sedimentary rocks.
