Boljetinska Reka Gorge

It was formed by the incision of the Boljetinska Reka River into sedimentary rocks from the Mesozoic period, between 170 and 113 million years old; at that time, the area was covered by the Tethys Ocean.

It was inhabited by various representatives of cephalopods (ammonites and belemnite), as evidenced by their preserved fossilized remains, which can still be found in the rocks.
