In the last decade of July, Djerdap Geopark and Geopark in the establishment of Biokovo-Imotska Jezera from the Republic of Croatia signed a Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the area of the two geoparks and the preservation of geoheritage. Based on the agreement, the two geoparks will cooperate in the field of geoheritage and geodiversity protection, exchange of experiences in protected area management and geotourism development. Cooperation also includes joint educational workshops and seminars with the aim of raising the quality of capacity in the area of both geoparks. The Memorandum was signed by executive director of PE “Djerdap National Park” Saša Janošević, manager of Djerdap Geopark and executive director of Biokovo-Imotska jezera Geopark Ivana Ćapin from Imotsko.

Although Djerdap Geopark has good cooperation with geoparks in Romania, Greece, Hungary and Croatia, this is the first Memorandum signed with some geopark in Southeast Europe, and therefore represents an incentive for greater cooperation with geoparks in the area.
